i wrote this song in the summer of 2017, and it’s one of the very first songs that i ever fully wrote lyrics and music for. it has a special place in my heart, because it made me realize that music was something i really wanted to pursue. although the song sounds sweet, it’s about being stuck with the sad thoughts hanging out in your brain, and the awkward struggle of learning how to get on with it.
lyrics
verse 1:
oh you’re such a dense boy
i can’t figure it out
all the things you do and say
make me wanna scream and shout
verse 2:
you know that you get on my nerves
and that just makes you bother me more
we’re bound together for life
i can’t show you out the door
chorus:
i have known you for so long
how can i make you go away?
life without you would be so wrong
would it hurt for you to stay?
verse 3:
i hate that i think that you’re gone
you trick me and you play pretend
don’t hide from me and then jump out
when will this game ever end?
chorus:
i have known you for so long
how can i make you go away?
life without you would be so wrong
would it hurt for you to stay?
bridge:
dense boy please
leave me be
you waste my time
someone come and set me free
(x2)
chorus:
i have known you for so long
how can i make you go away?
life without you would be so wrong
would it hurt for you to stay?
my favorite album by cavetown. he's the one who inspired me to make music of my own. best to listen to when you're looking for a friend or grappling with finding your purpose. denseboy
i don't know what to say. i've listen to this album a lot. i've cried to this album a lot. i love it a lot. there are only so many emotions a person can feel and this album resonates with them all. denseboy
